Invisalign Braces

Invisalign is the best alternative to traditional metal braces. Instead of moving your teeth with wires, as is done with braces, your teeth are moved with a series of clear plastic trays called aligners. They are virtually invisible, which means that most people wont even notice that you are in treatment! This is a great option for teens and adults who are concerned with their esthetics while in treatment.

How is it Done?
Step 1: Map out a treatment plan. You and Dr. Molayem develop a treatment plan specifically for you. Then the doctor takes bite impressions of your teeth, which Invisalign will use to custom-mold a series of clear, removable aligners that will gradually move your teeth into an incredible new smile.

Step 2: Your aligners are created. Your aligners are created via precision computer mapping and design and are then shipped to Dr. Molayem.

Step 3: Wear your aligners. A new set of aligners is given every two to three weeks, moving your teeth little by little. Dr. Molayem will check your progress after each set of aligners is given to you (or several sets of aligners can be given to you at once if it is difficult to come to the office as often). The aligners are removed to eat, brush and floss.

Each set of aligners is slightly different from the last one and progress your teeth towards a straighter more esthetic smile. Results are often achieved in 6 months to 1 year.

Is Invisalign for Me?
Invisalign can be used to treat crowded teeth, widely spaced teeth, overbites, underbites and crossbites; the more severe the case, the less likely that it will be successfully treated by invisalign. Dr. Molayem offers free consultations. He will look at your teeth and your radiographs and discuss with you if invisalign is the best treatment to give you the perfect esthetic smile.

When used correctly, invisalign can actually be more esthetic than traditional metal braces. This is because it is hard to brush and floss around traditional metal braces. However, invisalign aligners are removed when you eat and brush and floss so that there is no interference with your oral hygiene routine.

When is Invisalign Not a Good Option?
Dr. Molayem does not recommend invisalign for younger patients because this treatment relies heavily on patient cooperation. If the patient does not wear the invisalign aligners for prescribed amount of time then the teeth simply will not move.

Also, if the patient does not maintain meticulous oral hygiene then there is a high risk of cavity formation. This is because if the patient eats and then does not brush, the plaque is pressed against the teeth and the tongue and saliva are not given a chance to naturally clean the teeth.

In addition, Dr. Molayem does not recommend Invisalign for more severe cases where major tooth movement or bone movement is needed.

The Cost of Invisalign
Invisalign is slightly more expensive than traditional metal braces because the cost of the lab work is much higher.
