Tooth reshaping, or dental contouring, is one of few instant
treatments now available in cosmetic dentistry. Dental reshaping
and contouring is a procedure to correct crooked teeth, chipped
teeth, or cracked teeth in just one session.
The dental contouring procedure is not a substitute for braces
but can be done in addition to orthodontic treatment to achieve
an esthetic smile. It is a procedure of subtle changes. A few
millimeters of tooth enamel reduction can create a beautiful
smile, when performed by Dr. Molayem, with no discomfort to
you. Tooth reshaping, or dental contouring, is commonly used
to alter the length or shape of your teeth.

Accomplished? |

At the very end of your orthodontic treatment, usually just
after your braces are removed, you and Dr. Molayem can discuss
recontouring. Sometimes one tooth is taller than the rest, or
chipped when your teeth were not straight. Sometimes the shape
of your teeth makes it appear as though they are not touching
and, therefore, appear to have a space. These esthetic problems
can sometimes be fixed very easily by removing minute amounts
of the top layer of the tooth.
By removing millimeters of enamel, which does not contain nerves
and therefore does not require anesthetic, Dr. Molayem can bring
the teeth into harmony and create an even more esthetic smile.
Contouring teeth may also help correct small problems with bite.
It is common for bonding to be combined with tooth reshaping
to achieve a beautiful smile. This procedure usually takes minutes
to complete.
